SICK IN PRETORIA

I pasted an email below, that I sent out to everyone on my contact list recently.  I’ve already posted the journal entries here on my blog that I mentioned in the email below, so I cut them from the email.

Thobela (Hello),

I hope this email finds you all well!!  I don’t really know where to start, because I have a lot to share, so let me start by explaining why I have internet access.   About one or two weeks ago, I managed to get something similar to strep throat with high fever, congestion, etc.  The PC gave me a 3 day dose of antibiotics; however, I got all the symptoms back again a few days ago but twice as bad.  So, the PC decided to bring me to Pretoria, SA (about a 2 hour PC car ride from my village) to get stronger antibiotics, and also to let me enjoy a few days in an Inn in Pretoria to recuperate.  The Inn has wireless internet…hence my ability to send this email!! I will be here until 8am tomorrow morning (my time).  You are more than welcome to call, yahoo message me, email, or Skype me. 

Just remember that it may be expensive to call. However, I’ll most likely be on the internet most of the day, so you can also yahoo instant message me, Skype me, email me, etc. Just remember that I’m six hours ahead. I’ll try to stay up until about 1 am my time.

I spent most of my morning uploading all the pics I’ve taken thus far, while I have fast free internet…which might not happen again in the next two years!!!!   The internet I will have after PST will be slow!! You can check the pics out at:

Sorry I didn’t explain a whole lot about the pics in the albums, but I recently sent a slideshow disc with a ton of info about the pics to Daddy and Joyce, and you can contact them if you want a copy.

I also recently mailed a ten page letter to Marea…hand written front and back…took me three days to write it, and Marea is going to give it to Rhonda (my sister) after she reads it.  Rhonda is going to give it to my parents when she is done. So, you can contact my parents if you would like a copy. The letter details a ton of info about what I’ve been doing the past few weeks.  So, I don’t want to spend a lot of time here rehashing all of it.  However, I will give you all a quick synopsis of what’s been going on.  You are more than welcome to send me emails with any questions you have about this email or the pics, but it needs to be sent today ASAP so that I have time to answer. 

I’m going to paste a few journal entries here that wrote during my 1^st week in SA.  Then, the letter that I sent Marea picks up where these entries have left off.  Please disregard the grammar errors; I didn’t plan on sharing these entries with anyone…

Also please note that you will read in these entries how emotional I was during the first week…but don’t let that worry you…I’m not emotional anymore!!  I’m still very glad that I came to SA, but I do miss all of you!!  Also note, on the last entry I spoke about my 1^st encounter with my host family…you can also rest assured that my host family treats me great…we get along splendidly!!  So, no worries.

So, that’s about sums up my 1^st week, and like I mentioned earlier, you can get a copy of the letter I sent to Marea from my parents…in a few weeks after it arrives to see what’s been going on the past few weeks. If you have questions or comments, just let me know.
