Even More News About PST Site!!

New information from one of the current volunteers in South Africa regarding the college that I’ll be a for about a week after I arrive in South Africa.

“More about the training site, I dunno that’s classified information, lol, ok… It’s located a few kilometers from the nearest villages and the terrain is largely flat. As we are in winter, most of the grass has yellowed, giving it the feel of being, well… in Africa

. The campus itself is large and has some rather pretty sections. Other sections seem like they are an Africanized version of the secret garden. As I mentioned before, it had been abandoned for a few years. In it’s heyday it might have had hundreds of students, so the 45 or so of you will find ample room. Not to worry about bedding. When I was there, there was a Peace Corps car full of bedding linens/blankets/pillows, etc waiting for your arrival. Though it did get cold at night, the Peace Corps bedding was amply warm. In the dorm where I stayed there was a built-in desk, a bed, and closet, which is simple, yet functional. There is an outlet in every room that may or may not work. However, there are outlets in the hall which do. There is no centralized heating, that’s what sweaters are for .
There is toilet paper in the bathrooms, however it is not downy-soft, lol, so if you feel attached to a particular brand, bring your own. If you have any additional questions, please post them in the Welcome SA18 section, so we can keep this thread focused on language.

It’s a great place to have training and it looks like your training will be great.

I imagine you’ll be leaving to staging soon, so Bon Voyage!”
